"The Big Bang Show is a unique combination of live comedy, improv, comedic skits and a suspenseful variety show. Think of American Idol plus The Gong Show plus Improv and the Johnny Carson Show," said Novilla, creator of the show and owner of NOVA 535.

The show, held the first Thursday of the month, doors at 7pm and show at 8pm, features five to six local contestants with a diverse range of talent, a panel of judges and entertainment sprinkled throughout from Got Jokes?, a local improv group that Jefferson founded.Contestants are judged on their performance, but the audience will ultimately determine the winner by applause.

"The Big Bang Show is a 21-and-up show geared toward giving an adult crowd an enjoyable, classy evening filled with laughs," Jefferson said. "Hands down, it's the most original, top-class variety talent competition ever offered to the Tampa Bay area public."

Tickets are $10 advance and $15 at the door.

Got Jokes? Entertainment and NOVA 535 hosted the season two finale of their Big Bang Show this past Thursday, June 3, with a lineup of five of the Bay’s most impressive talents vying for the $1,000 cash prize.

This reporter was sure that Mark Byrne “The Balloon Guy” secured first place when he climbed inside a six-foot-tall pink balloon and crawled out in a skin-tight pink jumpsuit.

“Did that guy really put himself inside a f----ing balloon? That was beautiful...””
